Miss Karen's Musing

This month, I've been making "lemonade" with the lemons life has been handing me.

After some rather unexpected bumps and lumps, I decided to listen to what the universe was trying to tell me. As a result I am paying alot more attention to positive cash flow - it's a good thing.

One thing I have done is really step up my email newsletter service. I have several very exciting success stories I'll share in next month's issue.

The other shift I've made is to join forces with PJ Van Hulle. PJ has been one of my favorite people for years and when we met for a mastermind session last month, we discovered that what we really needed to take our businesses to the next level was each other!

Since that conversation, I've been working with her to get email marketing systematized and some other fun background stuff. I am truly enjoying working in a workshop company that isn't mine! PJ is very inspiring and I am having a total blast. I'll tell you more about PJ in a future email but if you just can't wait, you can check out her website Getting Started in Real Estate Investing right now

And so, on to the newsletter!

Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut - The Butts in Seats Solution You've Been Asking Me For.

Sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't.

When you lead workshops, getting butts in seats is your biggest concern. There are systems and theories we've been taught, but they don't work as well as "advertised." So it's fair to say that for the most part, the successful application of the process is a mystery to us "normal people" - including me!

The newspapers and TV aren't much help either. It's no wonder people want to engage in escapist activities rather than learn something new.

So, I have been running around "like a nut" looking for the answer to your most pressing question - "How do you get Butts in Seats, anyway?"

I've just made special arrangements for you to get access to an exclusive event which is coming up in June. The event is called, 'Magnetize Your Audience', and its put on by a duo of fabulous trainers that helped build T. Harv Eker's company, (among several others) - Yes really.

I know Callan Rush personally and she is truly one of the best. I was so excited to find out she had created this event with her business partner, Justin. It is the answer to my most common problem. I'll be there, so please won't you join me?

Callan has taught me a ton already...I suggest you check this out as well.

Magnetize Your Audience

You'll get some great free information first and then you'll have the chance to check out the event coming up in June that I mentioned earlier. Again, I know Callan personally and she really is exactly like how she is in the videos.

Let me know if you register for the event.

To our future abundance of butts,

Karen

p.s. don't be confused by the dates on their website. The workshop was originally scheduled for May and was moved to June. The correct dates are reflected on the registration page.
Why Your Email Newsletter is the Single Most Important Part of Your Marketing Plan

Most people I run into have the same complaint - "I have no follow up system to keep me in front of my clients so I have to keep finding new ones."

It's a very common problem.

Most business owners I meet suffer from "Bright Shiny Object Syndrome". We jump from great idea to great idea, flitting about all day long until we collapse at the end of the day and wonder what (if anything) we accomplished.

The reason I think your email newsletter is the most important part of your marketing plan is because it solves multiple problems all at once.

You may recall the discussion I had in a past issue about your marketing funnel.

Picture the funnel like the letter "V". At the top you have a wide opening. At the bottom is a small point. The top represents the lowest cost and lowest time investment items you offer in your business. At the bottom is the highest cost and time investment stuff.

Most of us know it's kind of silly to try to start a brand new client out with something high end because the level of trust may not be there or they may not be a good match for your services, So you start them out with something lower cost or free, like a newsletter.

Here are some of the beautiful things a newsletter can do for you:

It takes the average consumer 7 - 1 touches before they are willing to make a buying decision. A newsletter that's sent out regularly systematizes the process. For example, I had someone I met at a networking event and hadn't seen for more than a year call me up. He sait it was because he'd been receiving my newsletter the whole time and was now ready to buy. If my newsletter had not been in front of that person, he would have gone into his Rolodex looking for someone who does what I do. Because I was in front of him every month, he remembered me.

People typically make buying decisions based upon whether someone is A) a friend or B) an authority. When you send out a newsletter that includes personal information, they think of you as a friend. When it also includes information of value, you are an authority. A newsletter can set you up to be BOTH, making your clients much more likely to buy from you.

A newsletter can systematize downline or affiliate/ambassador communications. Often times the people who refer you regularly or are downline (for MLM's) are prior customers and have a different kind of relationship with you,. A newsletter just for them (such as an ambassador focus), can communicate with them at a different level, setting you up for success. You can communicate training ideas or a special focus that will hep them promote you and makes them feel special as well.

You can sell stuff in your newsletter. This is a bit tricker, because you need a system or a website to take the money but you really can make money with an ebook or a lower priced product by offering it in your newsletter. I would NOT recommend offering a high end thing in your newsletter. You can and should build excitement by talking about something big, however it's best to send them to a well crafted sales page or have a conversation with them if you want a response to a higher ticket item.

The right email newsletter program can give you all kinds of nifty reports like who opened our email, what they clicked on and who forwarded it. That's why I love Constant Contact so much because it has all of that functionality, allowing you to see exactly how effective your newsletter is for you.

That would be my 2 cents on why your newsletter is the most important part of your marketing plan. for more information on setting up your newsletter feel free to reply to this email or call me at 925-279-1004. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

Networking
Tip of the Month

Social Internet Marketing

Did you know that all that Internet blather about web 2.0 is really just about social Internet marketing?

What is it?

It's hanging out at Internet sites, chat groups and conversation loops (like yahoo groups), interacting socially and getting business as a result.

The easiest way to get started is to join a Yahoo Group that is on a topic of interest for you.

Let's say you love growing African Violets. Join a group whose topic is gardening or even African violets and join in the conversation!

Just like networking at social events, you should NOT try to sell to people in the group directly, but when the opportunity arises, you can always mention what you do.

I've received new subscribers to my email list just by talking about what I do when I pick up a free item on Freecycle. You never know who knows (or needs) who!

If you're looking for value in a book on Networking look no further. This book contains the essentials of my home study course which retails for $197, except the book costs just $7. Why in the world would I do that?? Because I honestly believe that it would be selfish of me to price it out of the reach of the business owner on a budget.

About Me

Karen Frank is a woman on a mission – to change the way the world does networking and marketing forever. She formed her business, recently re-named “3 E Communications,” in 2003. She started out creating elevator speeches and presentation scripts and soon discovered that she loved to create marketing copy. Although her first love is writing, Karen discovered that the most effective way to dramatically affect her clients’ bottom line was to get them involved in the process, and so she began teaching. Since that time hundreds of entrepreneurs have learned how to talk about their business and get the results they want.
