Learning about blogging

I'm evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they're letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I'll let you know what I think once I've had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it's still free.

Miss Karen's Musings - It's almost Christmas?!? What Happened to July?

Well, OK, I'll admit it. Time does pass more quickly as you get older. And I am not really ready to admit that I am actually older. The one thing that happens to you when you have kids is that you stop being timeless. You watch the little munchkin(s) get taller and taller and soon it occurs to you, holy cow he's nearly as tall as I am!

That's certainly the case with my boy as he prepares to become 12. Twelve years old!!

Gad, I still remember him as the beautiful little boy who got kicked out of 3 preschools for "non-compliant behavior". Which is not to say he was naughty - he just couldn't sit still for that long and got bored easily - like most normal boys.

It's been four years now since I "quit my day job" and took that rather enormous leap of faith. Has it always been easy? No it has not. Has it always been fun? No it has not. Have I made a bazillion dollars yet? No, not yet.

Would I change anything? No I would not.

Since I learned that it is possible to make money without trading time for dollars, my life went from "working for taskmasters" to living an adventure.

A few weeks ago I heard David Neagle Speak. He's just absolutely amazing, He says lots of insanely brilliant things. The one that continually sticks in my head is this: "If your business requires you to be present in order for it to make money, you don't have a business - you have a JOB".

After whacking myself upside the head for the umpteenth time in my life (and not because I could have had a nasty tasting vegetable drink), I realized I had created yet another job for myself and so I set out to do the right thing - walk my talk - create my business around my ideal life and not the other way around.

I find nothing more rewarding than teaching others what I've learned and watching them blossom and grow with the information I've been sharing.
I've seen total transformations in people's businesses and lives simply by developing self confidence using my systems.

It hit me one day recently that it isn't really about the words at all. It's about helping people validate who they are and what they're passionate about (and not just in their business world). I've been floored by how much the one day workshop alone has empowered my students and I realized that I am being very very selfish keeping this just to those I can actually be with in person, so I am changing all that. How? By making what I offer in person available as home study courses.

I am having a total blast developing these and I can't wait to share them with you.

A Holiday Networking Blog

'Twas the night before Solstice

Twas the night before solstice, when at the great hall,
Not a person was stirring - they were all at the mall.

The snacks were arranged on the table with care
In hopes that some networkers soon would be there.

When out in the parking lot arose such a sound
Like 500 pirates whose ships ran aground.

But I knew what it was - they were all right on time
The Chambers of Commerce, B2B, BNI,

LeTip and Csix to name just a few
Plus entrepreneurs and small businesses too.

The networkers all had arrived in a flash
And the party began - a right jolly old bash.

They were all dressed in suits except for a few
Shaking hands, passing cards, saying "what do you do?"

Their eyes how they twinkled, their voices so merry!
They were helping each other while they drank Tom and Jerry.

A curious thing took place there that night.
It was farming not hunting and doing what's right.

To those who attended, not one promotion
was made to another in the happy commotion.

The party went on for an hour or two,
Then off they all went with connections anew.

And I heard them exclaim as they drove out of site,
Happy networking to all and to all a good night!

About Me

My photo
Karen Frank is a woman on a mission – to change the way the world does networking and marketing forever. She formed her business, recently re-named “3 E Communications,” in 2003. She started out creating elevator speeches and presentation scripts and soon discovered that she loved to create marketing copy. Although her first love is writing, Karen discovered that the most effective way to dramatically affect her clients’ bottom line was to get them involved in the process, and so she began teaching. Since that time hundreds of entrepreneurs have learned how to talk about their business and get the results they want.
